Burpees Beat Cancer
September 23, 2016 @ 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
| Free Welcome to Burpees Beat Cancer!
Hi, I’m Michael. I’m a loving husband, father of two (soon to be three), an avid college football fan, musician, and athlete. I live and work in Eugene, Oregon as a software engineer and enjoy taking on challenges big and small. I also really like Burpees.
So what’s my story? What’s this Burpees Beat Cancer thing all about? Well, let me tell you…
About two years ago, my father-in-law underwent an emergency craniotomy to have a glioblastoma the size of a tennis ball removed from his brain. If it weren’t for that surgery, he would not be here today. Through clinical trials, countless MRIs, and other appointments, he has continued to fight and has surpassed the normal life expectancy for someone with this type of cancer. He is an inspiring man, and has inspired me to help others fighting this disease.
That’s where Burpees Beat Cancer comes in…
Burpees Beat Cancer is a unique fundraising event aimed at helping folks beat cancer by performing the greatest exercise movement ever invented — the Burpee. In partnership with the Oregon Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization helping Lane County residents through education, personal counseling, support groups, and financial assistance, I will be attempting to break the world record for most Burpees in 12 hours.
The event will take place on Friday, September 23 at the RENA Fitness studio (370 E. 40th Ave., Eugene, OR 97405) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Donations to the Oregon Cancer Foundation for this event can be made right here on this site. You can donate per Burpee or with a flat amount to help contribute to the cause.
One in three people will be diagnosed with some kind of cancer. If it has not affected your life already, it most likely will in the future. Whether it’s a family member, a friend, or a personal fight against the disease, cancer affects us all, and the impact it has is very real. Please join me in helping to support this important cause. Any amount is helpful.
Sincerely,
Michael Aliotti
